The Invar 42 has excellent controlled expansion quality and is primarily intended for controlled expansion and magnetic applications. Invar 42® is also very effective in magnetic applications. It can be hot formed, cold formed or machined. Nilo 42 has many of the properties of other Invar alloys. It is effective at extreme temperatures ranging from -32℃ to 275C,The Invar 42’s coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is close to zero. This beneficial quality makes Nilo 42 one of the most effective alloys for manufacturing precision instruments. Invar 42 is widely considered to be the metal of choice for many glass-to-metal seal applications.

4J42 precision alloy uses
Expansion alloy having a specific coefficient of thermal expansion, but also according to different uses require good sealing properties, weldability, corrosion resistance, workability and ease of machinability, and within the temperature range is not allowed to cause expansion characteristics significant changes in the phase transition. Expansion alloys in the manufacturing process must be accurate control of chemical composition of the alloy, and its products are generally rod, sheet, strip, wire and tube.
